Lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptides arrive as a stable powder and are reconstituted before use in research. The standard solvent is bacteriostatic water, which contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol to inhibit microbial growth across repeated draws.

Add the solvent slowly against the inside wall of the vial rather than directly onto the powder, and let the peptide dissolve on its own. Avoid vigorous shaking, which can shear sensitive sequences — a gentle swirl is enough.
