Reconstitution guide

How to correctly prepare a peptide vial for research use.

Prepare your environment

Work on a clean surface with sterile gloves. You'll need the lyophilised peptide vial, a sterile syringe, bacteriostatic water, and alcohol swabs.

Bring to room temperature

Let both the peptide vial and the bacteriostatic water reach room temperature before reconstituting.

Disinfect the stoppers

Remove the centre of the metal cap and wipe each rubber stopper with an alcohol swab.

Add the water slowly

Draw the required bacteriostatic water, tilt the vial ~45°, and let the water run gently down the inner wall to minimise foaming.

Dissolve gently

Do not shake. Swirl or roll the vial between your palms until the solution is completely clear.

Store correctly

Keep reconstituted solution refrigerated (about +4°C) for short-term use and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

How the calculation works

Concentration (mcg/ml) = (vial mg × 1,000) ÷ water ml

Volume needed (ml) = dose mg × 1,000 ÷ concentration

Units to draw = (volume ÷ syringe ml) × syringe units

Example: a 10 mg vial + 2 ml water = 5,000 mcg/ml. For a 0.25 mg dose: (0.25 × 1,000) ÷ 5,000 = 0.05 ml. On a 0.5 ml / 50-unit syringe: (0.05 ÷ 0.5) × 50 = 5 units.
